I have been living in Uganda for the past four months
working at Engineering Ministries International in their East Africa office in
Kampala. It has been a great opportunity to use my skills and training to
support the Christian ministries that are working in East Africa. Our office in
Kampala has been growing rapidly and we have outgrown our existing office and
still have more people planning to come next year.
Rendering of EMI/MAF joint office |
Through a previous master planning project done for Mission
Aviation Fellowship (MAF) the opportunity arose to build a joint office
building and a construction management workshop at MAF’s airfield on the edge
of Kampala. This partnership between EMI and MAF will allow sharing of
resources between the two organizations. As we are currently renting our office
space, this new building will reduce our overhead cost by 30% while giving us
more space to expand. Check out some of
the details at http://emiea.org/buildafricatogether.shtm.
Mount Kilimanjaro |
This brings me to the purpose of this letter. As part of the
fundraising effort to construct the office and workshop I will be joining a
team to make the seven day trek up Kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro is located in
northern Tanzania and is the highest point in Africa and the tallest
freestanding mountain in the world.
As I prepare for this opportunity I ask that you would
consider partnering with me in this adventure. Please pray for my fundraising
efforts, that I would trust God and not settle for what is easy. Pray for my
training in the next few months as I prepare for the climb. Pray for safety as
we climb. And pray that God would bring more climbers on board.
Prayerfully consider supporting our new office building and
workshop. This can be done through mailing a cheque payable to EMI Canada to Suite 201, 625-14th Street NW

1528 – Lammers as the volunteer name or
online at http://emicanada.org/donate.shtml,
click ‘Donate’ and enter “Project
1528 – Lammers” in the purpose. My commitment to joining the team is to
raise a minimum of $2000 toward the construction of the new buildings, I will match your donations up to $2000.
All your donations will go towards funding the building
construction. Although there are some fundraising incentives to cover some of
the costs of flights and the climb, I will not be taking advantage of those. I
am personally responsible for the flight and climbing costs, 100% of your
donations will go to the building fund.
If this interests you there are still more spots available
on the team. Consider joining us on the climb. Let me know if you have any questions.
Blessings,
Matt
